What and when Eid ul Fitr celebrated?

EID AL-FITR is the celebratory festival held at the end of Ramadan.


Eid Ul-Fitr is the culmination of the Islamic faith festival of Ramadan which is considered to be the holiest month in the religion’s calendar. Ramadan began on Thursday, April 25 and lasts for a month during which time worshippers fast, pray and undertake good deeds.

This year Ramadan began on Thursday, April 25 and ends on Saturday, May 25



What does Muslim do during this holi month Ramadan?

During this time, Muslims do not let any food or drink pass their lips during daylight hours.
Additionally, this period marks a time during which practising Muslims undertake some of the central tenets of the religion, such as prayer and giving to charity called Sadqua.Zakaat.







What is Eid al-Fitr?

Eid al-Fitr is the celebration of the end of the fasting month.
This festival day marks the first day of the next month called Shawwal.
Eid al-Fitr is marked with a big feast, the exchanging of gifts and celebrations and is also known as the Festival of Breaking Fast.
The celebration is marked with lights, decorations and gifts, with worshippers often decorating their homes and dressing up.





What happens during Eid?

In Muslim countries, Eid al-Fitr is a national holiday.
The festival is marked as follows:
  • With the first sighting of the new moon at the beginning of Shawwal.
  • Muslims wearing their best clothes, decorating their homes and spending time with their loved ones celebrating.
  • Muslims often give money to the poor so they can also enjoy the day.
  • Communal celebration services are help both outdoors and at mosques, however, this year many mosques may opt to video stream services.
